UBS has announced the appointment of Solita Marcelli, the current Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the Americas, as the new Head of Global Investment Management. Marcelli will assume this role on July 1, succeeding Bruno Marxer, who has decided to retire at the end of the first quarter of 2026. Marxer will continue in his position until June 30 to ensure a smooth transition.
In her expanded role, Marcelli will oversee UBS's investment management operations across the Americas, Asia Pacific (APAC), Switzerland, and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions. This strategic move aligns with UBS's ongoing efforts to enhance its global wealth management services and strengthen its presence in key markets.
Concurrently, Ulrike Hoffmann-Burchardi will assume the role of CIO for the Americas, effective July 1. She will maintain her current responsibilities as the CIO for global equities, ensuring continuity and expertise in UBS's investment strategies.
These leadership changes are part of UBS's broader strategy to revamp its wealth management business, particularly in the United States. The firm has outlined plans to restructure its U.S. wealth management division into six distinct units, aiming to focus more effectively on a diverse client base beyond ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
The appointment of Marcelli, a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in global markets, is expected to drive UBS's investment management strategies forward. Her leadership is anticipated to enhance the firm's ability to meet the evolving needs of clients worldwide.
